Shortly after debuting in ECW, Mike Awesome wasted no time in asserting himself. He quickly rose through the ranks to earn a shot at the ECW Heavyweight Championship, which he won by defeating Tazz and Masato Tanaka in a Three Way Dance. Though Awesome would leave ECW for a run in the old WCW, ECW was always where Awesome's heart was.
